I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be grateful.
I think of my little boys and how hard I work to ensure they are kind, thoughtful and well-mannered men. More so, I think of how hard I work to ensure they understand what having a grateful heart really means.
I think of how long it takes to say thank you.
I think of how much it means to hear thank you.
I think of how much there is to be thankful for.
Which then gets me wondering how often I say thank you to God.
These two little words hold such depth and meaning, yet, do I actually use these words when conversing with God?
For warm water…
For electricity…
For health…
For grace…
For love…
For clothes in my closet…
For a heated home…
For green grass…
For blue skies….
For forgiveness…
For bright sunshine…
For a slight breeze….
For swaying tress…
For the gift of laughter…
For people to love…
For friends that care…
For breath in my lungs…
Gratitude doesn’t need to be complicated. All we have to do is breathe in appreciation and breathe out our praise and say thank you.
”Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100
