Light Up Your World

By December 30, 2016 No Comments

I live in a neighborhood covered by thick forest – hence why deer roam the streets on a weekly basis.

15 years ago a freak forest fire ripped through this neighborhood causing immediate evacuation and forest damage. My next door neighbor lived through it. While talking to him about it over the summer he said something I will never forget.

It was one small spark.
That’s all it took.
It spread faster than any fire this city has ever seen.

This is Christmas.

One small baby.
One small spark.
That’s all it took.
But His message spreads because He is love, hope, peace and joy.

Christmas is a time of light because He is light.

Illumination.
Brightness.
Shine.
Gleam.
Brilliance.
Radiance.
Luster.
Glow.
Blaze.
Glare.
Dazzle.
Luminescence.

Light: a natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.

This is what I pray for myself, and this is what I pray for you – that the spirit of Christmas will shine on in your life throughout the year. That His spark will illuminate your life in such a way that you make Him visible to the world around you this coming year.

I pray your life will sparkle.
I pray your sparkle will light up the neighborhoods around you.
And I pray His light through you will spread faster than anything your city has ever seen.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:14-16
