Bloom Where You Are Planted

By April 18, 2016 No Comments

Where I live the grass is already green. The sun is shining bright. The sand at the beach has warmed. People are wearing shorts and sailboats are beautifully decorating the water in every which-way direction.

Yesterday, while at the park with my boys, I witnessed a tulip opening right before my very eyes. The bloom was perfection. In fact, it was so special that the process brought a tear to my eye. I quickly looked up to see if anyone else noticed, but nope, all I saw were a lot of unhappy faces – which is ironic given the season I just described. I quickly took a moment to bow my head, close my eyes and pray, “Lord, may my life bloom in this very same way to reveal your love, hope and life, and in so doing, may my life evoke tears of wonder to those I interact with on a daily basis.” No sooner had I finished that prayer a lady sat down beside me on the bench and said, “You must be having a great day. What could bring such a huge smile to someone’s face?”

And just like that it was my turn to bloom.

Friends, bloom where you are planted. You don’t need to do extravagant things to be extraordinary. Just be available and willing to bloom in the most unlikely of places. This world needs tulips everywhere.

”In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” -Matthew 5:16
