Kids are smart. They say the wisest things that flush adult “wisdom” right down the drain.
Take for example last week.
My boys had totally demolished their toy room. It looked like a massive hurricane had swept through our entire basement so naturally I made them clean it up. After an hour had passed I went downstairs to see how well they were progressing only to discover they hadn’t even started.
“Boys, why does your toy room still look like this?”
“Because we’re having fun.”
“But mommy told you to clean this up.”
“We will. We promise. But for now we’re just enjoying each other’s company.”
*tear jerk*
*heart tug*
*love fest*
Really?
How do they come up with this stuff?
There was nothing else I could do but lay down right beside them.
Work, sweat, toil and daily responsibilities will never end. It’s how we handle ourselves amidst the mess that exudes our greatest happiness.
“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.” Psalm 107:28-30
