It’s easy to look at our hundreds of ‘friends’ on Facebook and still feel alone. Today as I was going through this list of ‘friends,’ trying to think of something clever to write for this post about loneliness, I got to the G’s and stopped. Right there between the names ‘Gladys’ and ‘Gord’ I imagined the name ‘God’ and this passage of scripture popped to my memory: “…there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” ~Proverbs 18:24
I was prepared to write some long insightful post about Facebook and how deadly it can be to find console in hundreds of ‘friends’, but I was reminded of something so much deeper. God is the best friend anyone could ever have, and ironically he isn’t even on my Facebook list.
I must not forget to turn to him during my times of reaching out.
Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.
