“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Psalm 27:14
If ever there was some tough advice to swallow, it’s this: “Wait for the Lord.”
We don’t like waiting, do we? I know I don’t.
Waiting is not comfortable.
Waiting is not exciting.
Waiting is not convenient.
When we want something, we want it now!… especially in this fast paced culture.
But waiting is kind of God’s thing. He doesn’t mind waiting, and he certainly doesn’t mind making us wait. Not because He’s mean, or because He’s trying to play mind games, but because He knows what’s best for us and He’s waiting to reveal the perfect timing.
Do you trust that? Do you believe that? Do you have faith in that?
If anything matures our faith, it’s this: to wait for the Lord to act when no other power can help.
We wait because it’s in the waiting where our faith is stretched.
We wait because the stillness draws us closer to our Father.
We wait because waiting is what reveals the depths of Who He is.
We wait because God will step in and do what we cannot.
So the next time you find yourself weighed down by the pounds of life, think about “wait gain” in a whole new way and ask God what He’s trying to teach you as you take heart in Him.
