Truth To Hear

Who Are You Trying To Please?

By November 11, 2016 No Comments

It’s a question I posed to a group of ladies while speaking at a retreat this past weekend in Nordegg, Alberta.

The theme for the weekend was about freedom in Christ and why, seemingly, we as Christians appear to be living such powerless lives when there is such freedom found in and through Him.

Scattered throughout the pages of Galatians are verses that speak of the Holy Spirit and the freedom we can find when we keep in step with Him, so then why does so much fear, shame and guilt plague our culture – and perhaps even our own hearts?

I can’t help but think it has everything to do with the way we answer the above question.

Truth is, it’s an easy question to ask but not a simple question to answer.

So have you?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself honestly who you are trying to please?

“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10 (NIV)
