This is the time of year when the pressure to do everything and be everywhere starts revving up. Turn left, there’s something to do. Turn right, there’s some place to go.
But once again I find myself drawn to the Christmas story and the beautiful way in which Jesus entered this season.
His story is a stark contrast to everything we humans have made this season out to be.
Simple.
Sweet.
Gentle.
Meek.
Mild.
Calm.
Yesterday I read this quote by Donald Miller:
“Actively edit your life.”
Blinking brightly in my mind were two simple words to follow the quote: this Christmas. It was as if the Holy Spirit was checking my spirit.
Dear Cindy: Actively edit your life this Christmas. Remember the real reason for the season.
When the rest of the world is choosing to hustle, edit your heart and stay simple.
When the rest of the world is choosing to bustle, edit your soul and stay calm.
When the rest of the world has gotten swept up in the hype of the festivities, edit your life to reflect my life, my story.
It was no accident Jesus came into this season as a sweet and gentle babe. Perhaps sweet and gentle is exactly how He wants us to enter this season too.
All is calm, all is bright.
Sleep in heavenly peace.Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Let your heart be light.A thrill of hope
The weary world rejoices.
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).” Matthew 1:23
