”Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” -Daniel 12:3
I read this passage of scripture the other day and instantly thought of how cool it is to think of ourselves as stars. In a culture that is obsessed with a different kind of star struck, it was a gentle reminder – yet again – how differently Christ asks us to think about this life and how counter to the culture He asks us to live.
I pictured myself in the sky shining bright like a twinkly star. Deeper still, I pictured every person I lead to Christ joining me up there in the mass expanse becoming night-lights themselves. Even deeper still, in the same way a sparkly sky captivates people with awe and wonder, I pictured each Christian setting this world ablaze with the light of Christ causing awe and stirring wonder.
I think about these kinds of things because my heart longs to see Christians come alive in their light and beauty.
I think about these kinds of things because my heart longs to see the glory of God contagiously spread to the darkest corners of the world where hope has been dimed.
But it’s up to each one of us. It’s our job to be a star. It’s our job to keep adding beautiful stars to the sky.
If the love of Christ has captivated our hearts in a truly life altering way, then we can’t help but be compelled to smile bigger than everybody else and let the light shine bright.
