On November 8th, 1927, my thirty-eighth birthday, I prayed this prayer: “Lord, make me a man after Thine own heart.” Work faded out of sight; things that before seemed important disappeared; everything in which I was interested took a secondary place, and my own inner life before God was all that mattered, all that was really worthwhile. And as I paced back and forth in my study that day I prayed and prayed in my Spirit: “Lord, make me a man after Thine own heart.”
“I want, dear Lord, a heart that’s true and clean – a sunlit heart with not a cloud between; a heart like Thine, a heart divine, a heart as white as snow – on me, dear Lord, a heart like this bestow.”
Oswald Smith
”Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10
