One of faith’s greatest frustrations is that God’s timetable is rarely the same as our own. This culture moves at such a rapid pace, that we can’t help but expect God to move at the same pace. But God is never in a hurry, is He?
The Bible is filled with many examples of how God used a long waiting period to develop His leaders into whom He needed them to be for an appointed purpose.
Noah waited 120 years before the predicted rains arrived.
Abraham waited 25 years for a promised son.
Joseph waited 14 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
It may feel like God is taking forever, but we can trust that He is always on time.
Noah’s rain did fall.
Abraham’s son did come.
Joseph’s freedom was restored.
More important than arriving at the destination of our awaited goal is the journey we take with God as He works in us and through us according to His timing.
So when the speed in which you’re travelling eats away at you, hold onto these truths:
Rain.
Son.
Freedom.
Because He is always on time.
”Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.” James 1:2-4 (MSG)
