I had brunch on Sunday with a bunch of girlfriends. We talked, we laughed, we told each other hilarious stories.
At one point during our brunch the conversation turned to parenting, and just like that, the topic of wisdom was brought up.
The cool part?
The same friend who inspired me to write this wisdom series – which I explained in the introduction, 30 days back – was the exact friend now repeating herself to this table of girlfriends.
Poetic? I think so.
As I quietly listened to her wise words all over again “I took God up on His Word and I asked Him for wisdom”… I felt God stir my heart with a closing passage of scripture to help me conclude this series. Ironically, this closing passage is the opening passage for the entire book of Proverbs.
Poetic? I know so.
It’s as if God is saying, no matter what you do, where you go or how you live your life, wisdom will always lead you home. If your heart is truly focused on seeking Him, then you will always circle back to wisdom, knowledge and understanding because these truths always encircle Him.
Circle: to move all the way around someone or something, especially more than once… to rotate, travel, circumnavigate and revolve.
I can think of no better way to end this series, and I can think of no better way for us to be challenged to live our lives, than by circling wisdom… by circumnavigating understanding… and by travelling with knowledge.
We need to resolve to revolve around Him. Always.
This is wisdom resolution.
“The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight; for receiving instruction in prudent behaviour, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young – let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance – for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:1-7
