If you’re anything like me, my mind is constant. I’m a total thinker, a creative, and a “slight” perfectionist. Oiy. These qualities do not bode well in my favor when nighttime rolls around – sleep can be twisty at best.
But I’ve learned that if I give my mind something healthy and constructive to concentrate on, it can’t be distracted by the rabbit trails.
The same goes for traffic jams, grocery lineups, mall chaos, family drama, and Lord help me, parental insanity.
That’s when I insert Philippians 4:6-7. It’s a trendy but a goodie:
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”
