For the last three years, my husband and I have been in an interesting season of transition. Whether geographical, vocational, relational, emotional or spiritual, the theme has been transitional and we’ve been on an intense journey of learning and growing. We’ve learned a ton of things along the way, and we’re still learning. In fact, we never want to stop learning.
Some lessons have led us to a deeper understanding of freedom and truth. Some lessons we’re still in the process of trying to figure out. And other lessons have led us down rabbit trails of more unanswerable questions. Ha!
I say all that to say this:
This devotional is hard to write because it doesn’t make sense.
Today marks my 563rd devotional. I have faithfully written everyday for 2.5 years because I love it. I love to write. I love to dig deep into understanding more of God. And I absolutely love sharing stories with each of you in an attempt to challenge, inspire and encourage you in your faith journeys.
But yesterday, out of left field, I felt the Holy Spirit prompt my spirit to take a break. I wish I knew and understood why, but I don’t.
The only thing I do know is that, I care way more about being obedient than I do about continuing something because I want to.
Obedience means way more to God than us feeling comfortable and in control.
And so, I’m going to lay aside the devotions for a little while so I can lean into what the Holy Spirit is nudging.
My prayer for you is that you lean into Him too, and you will certainly be the first people I email when I feel released to do so.
I leave you now with a passage of scripture that has come to mean so much to me over my past three years of transition. I have deeply come to understand this passage and how difficult it can be to live this kind of life. But it has also revealed how beautiful of a life it can be when we give up everything to follow Him.
