Everyday we are faced with pressures, responsibilities, decisions and commitments. There is a never-ending stream of events to get involved with, initiatives to pursue, fun to be had and opportunities to consider.
Some of these things are good, some are not.
Some push us closer to Christ, some draw us away.
Some keep us focused on why we’re really here, some distract us further.
Are we on mission?
Are we living the right purpose?
Are we responding to the right call?
It comes down to a simple question:
“Lord, what do You want?
Do we ask that enough?
Do we ask it honestly?
Do we ask it whole-heartedly?
Do we consider what His answer might be before writing the email, returning the phone call, sending the text or saying yes to the task?
Does ____________ involve His mission?
Does ____________ focus on His purposes?
Does ____________ align with His call for my life?
In these busy lives we’re living, how much of what we’re doing is really about God and how much is about us – our selfish desires, our conveniences and our comfort?
No one can answer that but Him. So ask Him.
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21 (NIV)
