Truth To Hear

Need

He was “dying” of boredom. “Mom, I’m just a little guy who NEEEEEEDS a new Lego set.”

Need. Really?

I hear friends say this all the time.
My kids say this all the time.
I myself say this all the time.

There aren’t too many things in life we truly need, but the word has become such staple chitchat in today’s pop vocabulary that it sort of slips out before we even realize what truth we’re speaking over our own lives.

I need a new pair of the boots.
I need a haircut.
I need another coffee.
I need a good cry.
I need a vay-cay.

Need. Really?

What we really need is to rethink what we need.

I want a new pair of boots, but what I really need is to know more of Jesus.

I’d love a new haircut so I can stop looking like I stuck my finger in a light socket, but what I really need is to spend time in The Word.

I would seriously love a coffee, a good cry and a mega watt vay-cay, but what I really need is to be more Christ-like in my perspective of wants and needs.

 Romans 12:2 says it best:

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
